Settling on Slot, they have now agreed a compensation deal with Feyenoord that could be worth £9.4m.
Slot had already confirmed publicly that he wants to move to Liverpool and, with everything now set in place, he looks likely to be granted his wish and become the Reds' next first-team manager.

Unsurprisingly the Dutch players in the Liverpool squad are likely to be those most familiar with Slot.
Captain Virgil van Dijk has already endorsed his compatriot as a successor to Klopp, lauding him as ‘one of the better Dutch coaches at the moment,’ and believing he has the potential to be a possible Liverpool coach.
Meanwhile, Van Dijk, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch have all worked closely with Slot’s trusted assistant manager, Sipke Hulshoff, over the past 18 months.
However, the pair did lock horns during the latter stages of Slot’s playing career, with Van Dijk completing the full 90 minutes for Groningen in a 1-0 home victory over PEC Zwolle in February 2013.
Slot would join the action as a substitute for the visitors in the 69th minute, as PEC Zwolle conceded a last-minute winner.
While Van Dijk might never have played against a Slot side, it’s a different story for his two Dutch team-mates at Anfield - Gakpo and Gravenberch.
Gakpo would first face off against Slot with PSV Eindhoven when the potential new Liverpool manager was with AZ Alkmaar.
The left-back was on loan at Willem II during the 2017/18 season when his potential new boss was enjoying his first season as assistant manager at AZ.
The Greek would complete the full 90 minutes for the mid-table Dutch outfit on both occasions as they suffered 3-2 and 2-0 defeats.
Time will tell if such familiarity proves beneficial for such players, should Slot indeed be appointed Liverpool manager.
Yet his arrival could perhaps provide a bigger boost to a different Reds defender - Sepp van den Berg.
While Slot finished his playing career at PEC Zwolle, it is where the 22-year-old started his own senior exploits before joining Liverpool in a deal worth up to £4.4m in June 2019.
Meanwhile, Slot actually started his coaching career as a youth coach at PEC Zwolle in 2013, spending a year in the position before moving on to SC Cambuur as assistant manager.
