Arne Slot’s debut season in charge of Liverpool was certainly one to remember.
The Dutchman took control of a team that were feeling uncertain about the future ahead and wondering whether the success that came with Jurgen Klopp would ever be replicated.
Worries and concerns that were quickly put to bed by the brilliance of Arne Slot.
Expertly adjusting to life in the Premier League, fearlessly navigating the English media as well as implementing tactics on to a team that was used to a different system, he etched himself into Anfield folklore after clinching the Premier League title.
Liverpool also reached a Carabao Cup Final and the RO16 in the Champions League.
It was a remarkably impressive first attempt by Arne Slot.
Now, he’s ready to go all over again, molding the squad he believes will take him to new heights next season.
Liverpool are set to return to Anfield for a pre-season double header against Athletic Club tomorrow and we could just see an iconic banner with a new addition to it.
The banner takes pride of place near the front of the Kop before every home game, and features every manager who has achieved historic success with the club in the past.
With Arne Slot’s addition, the banner will now feature Bill Shankly, Bob Paisley, Joe Fagan, Kenny Dalglish, Rafa Benitez, Jurgen Klopp and Arne Slot.
The banner belongs to the Irish Kop, an online forum Dublin-based Liverpool supporter Paul Larkin set up in 2003.
Speaking on the addition of Slot back in May, Larkin said: “Some people think it is too soon, but the criteria has always been that if you either win the league or the European Cup, you go on it.”
“I’ve asked a graphic designer to come up with some new designs?
Slot deserves it.”
Slot will be looking to repay their supporters’ faith in him by adding more silverware to Liverpool’s trophy cabinet next season.
The first chance to do that will arrive just seven days from now, as Liverpool face off against Crystal Palace at Wembley for the Community Shield.
