Arne Slot has given some insight into how he sees his left flank after the departure of Luis Diaz.
The Colombian officially completed his transfer from Liverpool to Bayern Munich this week in a deal worth €75 million (£65.5 million), marking the end of his successful three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield.
He signed a four-year contract with the Bundesliga champions, keeping him at the Allianz Arena until 2029.
The transfer represents the third-largest fee in Bayern Munich’s history, behind only Harry Kane (€95 million) and Lucas Hernández (€80 million).
The 28-year-old leaves Liverpool having won four major trophies, including the Premier League title last season where he enjoyed his most productive campaign with 17 goals across all competitions.
Now Slot has spoken about the rest of the transfer window.
Speaking to the Athletic, Arne Slot suggested that if the season would start now, he would have sufficient options – but does not rule out making a move if a good market opportunity arises:
“I think if players leave, whether that’s Trent (Alexander-Arnold) or Lucho, then you always need to replace them with quality,” the Dutchman said.
“But sometimes quality can be in different positions.
We have more than a few players who can play in a number of positions.”
“At this moment in time, we still have Cody Gakpo, Rio (Ngumoha) is showing very good signs, and I think Florian Wirtz can play from the left side as well.”
“There are enough options for me to choose from.
But as I always say, another thing about Liverpool is that if we see a chance in the market, we never hesitate to bring someone in.”
“In the end, it’s about quality, and we have already made some very good signings?
In terms of quality, we are already in the right place.”
