Arne Slot has succeeded in taking over from Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

A task many saw as impossible, given the dynasty that the German manager left behind him, Arne Slot has taken every challenge that comes with accepting a job as big as manager of Liverpool in his stride.

He is now just one point away from becoming the first Dutch manager to win the Premier League.

Arne Slot will also become just the fifth manager to win the Premier League in his first season in charge, after Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti, Manuel Pellegrini and Antonio Conte.

A key component in the Slot machine is being able to install a calmness into his Liverpool team, allowing them to have a bigger control of the game, something that is very different from Klopp’s ‘heavy metal football’ playing style.

Slot’s style of play lines up with himself as a person too, as he remains logical and calm as he closes in on history this Sunday.

Despite the euphoria that could follow today’s game, Arne Slot has sent out a stark reminder to his players to focus on the job at hand – winning the game today.

In his programme notes, he said: “The overriding message today is very simple – we have a job to do.”

“It is a job that everyone associated with Liverpool FC should be excited about because the possibilities it creates are there for all to see but, as with every other game we have played this season, hard work will be absolutely crucial.”

“So focusing on the job at hand is not just desirable, it is absolutely essential.

On and off the pitch, our aim has to be to get as close as we possibly can to our A-game.”

“So what we have now and in the remaining weeks of the season is a wonderful opportunity that we should grasp with both hands.”

Business as usual for Arne Slot and his team then, as he urges the supporters to get behind the team as much as possible today to get that point, or three, and secure the Premier League title.
