Incoming Liverpool manager Arne Slot couldn’t help but marvel at the sheer brilliance of Mohamed Salah’s goal against Tottenham on Sunday.

Back in the starting lineup, the Egyptian forward took centre stage, posing a constant threat to Tottenham’s defence with his positive play, dribbling skills, and movement.

Although denied an early goal by Guglielmo Vicario’s save, Salah found the net after just 16 minutes, perfectly timing his run to connect with Gakpo’s excellent cross and nodding the ball firmly into the back of the net.

This goal marked his 18th in the Premier League this season, his 25th across all competitions, and his first since scoring the equalizer in the 2-2 draw against Manchester United on April 7.

Impressively, it was also his ninth goal in 15 Premier League appearances against Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Salah didn’t stop there, as he played a pivotal role in two more goals.

His shot led to Robertson’s goal, and his precise pass set up Elliott to make it 4-0.

Reacting to Salah’s goal against Tottenham, Slot said as quoted by the Daily Mail’s Lewis Steele: “Arne Slot says Mo Salah’s goal today was great – but he had to switch off after that?

“If the official confirmation is there and I am 100% sure I will go there, I will not only watch this game (Liverpool v Tottenham) but many more.”

Slot is poised to be appointed as Jurgen Klopp’s successor at Anfield following the agreement of a compensation package worth up to £9.4m with Feyenoord.

The 45-year-old has been at the helm of Feyenoord since 2021, and last season he steered the club to its first Eredivisie title since 2017, finishing seven points ahead of PSV Eindhoven.

Although trailing PSV by nine points this term, Slot recently guided the Rotterdam outfit to Dutch Cup success with a 1-0 victory over NEC Nijmegen last weekend.

Liverpool’s decision to appoint Slot is believed to be influenced by his attacking style of play, his leadership qualities, and his adeptness at player development.

Slot assumed the role of Feyenoord manager in 2021 and had previously expressed interest in managing in the Premier League when he was linked with Tottenham in 2023.
