If Liverpool choose to intensify their efforts to secure Arne Slot from Feyenoord, they could face a bill of £8.59 million for the transaction, according to the Daily Mail.
The daily newspaper claims that “Feyenoord are said to be happy to sanction a departure but would need €10million to do so.”
The 45-year-old has emerged as the frontrunner for the imminent vacancy at Anfield, expected to arise upon Jurgen Klopp’s departure in the summer.
The German’s impending departure was announced in late January, marking the conclusion of his nearly nine-year tenure at Liverpool.
With just five matches remaining on Merseyside, including tomorrow’s fixture against Everton at Goodison Park, the club is moving swiftly to identify his successor.
Slot’s recent accomplishments include securing the Dutch Cup with a 1-0 victory in the final over NEC Breda.
Additionally, he guided Feyenoord to a league title in the 2022-23 season, marking only their second championship triumph since the turn of the century.
The Daily Mail further stated that “the Dutch club are growing increasingly frustrated at Slot’s agent, Rafaela Pimenta, constantly offering him to other clubs?
“The manager is said to have a significant amount of power over transfers at Feyenoord and the club has been willing to give him what he demands.”
Slot is likely to bring his trusted associate, Sipke Hulshoff, to his next club, as Liverpool face a significant rebuilding process in the coaching department.
Several key members of Klopp’s inner circle are expected to depart alongside him including assistant managers Pepijn Lijnders and Peter Krawietz, as well as elite development coach Vitor Matos.
As of now, there have been no formal or direct discussions between Liverpool and Slot or Feyenoord.
The Dutch club was only made aware earlier this week of the increasing interest in their manager.
Slot’s managerial capabilities have attracted attention previously, with links to Leeds United following Jesse Marsch’s dismissal.
Additionally, Slot distanced himself from the Tottenham vacancy last summer before Ange Postecoglou assumed the role.
Despite speculation, Slot reaffirmed his commitment to Feyenoord by extending his contract until 2026.
