Liverpool continue the countdown to their Premier League trophy lift with a clash against second-placed Arsenal on Sunday.

When the fixtures were revealed last summer, and even as the season progressed into the winter, this had the look of a game which could be a potential title-decider.

Instead, Arsenal head to Anfield unable to catch Liverpool and having had their trophy hopes ended in the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday.

In reality, it is a fixture neither club will be especially bothered about playing.

And after the much talked about guard of honour has been completed, here’s the XI we expect Arne Slot to send out against Mikel Arteta’s wounded Gunners.

As the arrival of Giorgi Mamardashvili edges ever closer, uncertainty may start to creep in over Liverpool’s goalkeeping options.

For now, though, it is clear that Alisson Becker is the best goalie at the club, possibly even the world.

In the first game since Trent Alexander-Arnold announced he will leave Liverpool, it would have been interesting to see what reception the Scouser received.

But Slot has already confirmed that Conor Bradley will start against Arsenal.

There will also likely be a change at centre-back, as Slot returns to his first choice partnership of Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk.

Having sat out the match at Stamford Bridge, Andy Robertson is expected to come in for Kostas Tsimikas, too.

Slot changed his whole midfield three against Chelsea, affording a rare rest to the trio who have marched Liverpool towards the Premier League title.

Wataru Endo did well at Stamford Bridge but otherwise neither Curtis Jones nor Harvey Elliott did themselves any favours.

As a result, we’d expect to see Liverpool back at full strength in the middle of the park for this one.

That will mean Ryan Gravenberch comes back from not even featuring in the matchday squad, while Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai also start.

Liverpool’s attack is where the most intrigue lies, with supporters still desperate to get a proper look at Federico Chiesa.

After giving Chiesa just a few minutes at Chelsea, we actually think Slot is about to hand the Italian his full Premier League debut for this one.

We think he’ll start on the left.

Having remained on the bench last week, we think Luis Diaz will come into the central role, while Mohamed Salah will celebrate his FWA Footballer of the Year award by trying to get closer to the elusive 20-assist record.
