Arne Slot has jokingly sent a message to David Moyes ahead of the Merseyside derby this weekend.

Liverpool is preparing to welcome their blue neighbors to Anfield on Saturday for the first installment of this season’s local rivalry.

Their midweek European adventure has provided the perfect backdrop for Saturday’s clash.

The Reds’ dramatic 3-2 victory over Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening once again showcased their remarkable ability to find late winners when it matters most.

Virgil van Dijk’s towering header in the 92nd minute marked the fifth consecutive match where Arne Slot’s side have scored a decisive goal beyond the 83rd minute.

The pattern has become Liverpool’s calling card this season.

Arne Slot’s men have developed an almost supernatural knack for finding ways to win when games appear destined for different outcomes.

Meanwhile, Alexander Isak’s 57-minute display against Atletico provided encouraging glimpses of what Liverpool supporters can expect once he reaches full fitness.

And Arne Slot, when quizzed on whether the Swede will feature vs the Toffees in his post-Atletico Madrid press conference, jokingly replied:

“Do you ask that from David?” Slot said.

“I was positively surprised by how fit he was during that 60 minutes but that maybe, probably, tells you that it might be a difference to sign a 20-year-old from a different league or a 25- or 26-year-old that is used to playing in this league.”

“Although he only trained for two weeks, he has so many games under his belt that he is probably more able to be ready for 60.”

He added that “you can tell David” Moyes that Isak will not play 90 minutes on Saturday:

“Yeah, a good start, only 60 minutes and now we have to build him up from here?

But I can tell you he is not going to play 90 again on Saturday.”

“I can tell David, or you can tell David that he is not going to play 90 on Saturday.”
