Arne Slot has been given clear instructions on how to maximise Alexander Isak’s potential if Liverpool break the bank for the Newcastle striker this summer.

It is understood that the Swedish striker needs specific man-management techniques in order to play to his full potential, something Newcastle coaches have managed to do by regularly holding private discussions.

Isak, 25, has emerged as one of the Premier League's standout forwards during his three-year stint on Tyneside.

Arne Slot has secured the signings of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz for £29.5million and a British transfer record-breaking £116m, respectively, with the latter set to join his former Bayer Leverkusen team-mate at Kirkby.

Give Me Sport reports that Liverpool may be prepared to break the transfer record for a second time in the same window in order to land Isak, who Newcastle have valued at a whopping £150m.

Isak has been described as Slot's 'dream' signing this summer and is widely regarded as a complete player.

Yet, a deep dive into the player’s mindset by The Athletic earlier this year revealed that the responsibility lies with the coaching staff at Newcastle to bring out the best in the Swede.

The report stated that Isak needs to be kept "stimulated" to truly unlock his potential.

According to insiders, Newcastle coaches felt he needed time to adapt to the Premier League, a process that is still ongoing, though a former staff member described him as having "uncoachable raw ingredients".

Those who have worked with Isak say he "needs to be constantly challenged" and thrives on "creative work", given his creative playing style.

Eddie Howe and his staff set targets for Isak to reach, something he reportedly enjoys as it keeps him engaged.

An anonymous source who has worked closely with Isak was quoted saying: "There isn't a ceiling to what he can achieve," explaining why he is such a sought-after player and why Newcastle are determined not to let him go this summer.

There's no question that Slot, who transformed a Liverpool squad that finished third the previous season into comfortable league winners with just one outfield addition, possesses the tactical acumen and man-management skills to push Isak to new levels.

Although it's not entirely out of the question that Liverpool could top their £116m Wirtz bid to secure Isak's transfer to Anfield, reports indicate the Reds are more likely to submit an offer of around £100m.

This is £16m less than Wirtz's fee and significantly lower than Newcastle's £150m valuation, which the northeast club can demand due to Isak's three-year contract.

However, one factor that could work in Liverpool's favour is if Newcastle successfully sign Brighton's Brazilian star Joao Pedro, valued at £60m-£70m.
