Liverpool are yet to play this weekend but they are still benefiting in the race for the Premier League title.

The international break is done and domestic football has returned, although the Reds are one of the last teams to get back up and running.

16 of the 20 sides played on Saturday, meaning a lot has changed in terms of the Premier League standings.

Of course, due to playing one less match, Liverpool have slipped ever so slightly down the table, although they have still benefited massively despite this.

And, the reason for this is down to four former Reds players, with all likely to be in Arne Slot’s good books right now.

Liverpool’s main aim is to just win as many games as possible in the hope that it will be enough for them to lift the title in May.

However, everyone needs a helping hand sometimes and the Reds will always be hoping that others can take points off their rivals, making their job a lot easier.

This is exactly what Brentford have done too by snatching a draw against Chelsea at the very last minute, with four former Reds playing an integral role.

The obvious one is Fabio Carvalho, as the Portuguese forward was the one who scored that late goal to help the Bees earn a point.

But, just because he got the glory, it does not mean he was the best on the pitch, with three other ex-Reds having a game to remember.

Former captain Jordan Henderson played a key role in the middle of the park, with his sweeping pass from range setting up the first goal of the night, while Sepp van den Berg had a good game at the back.

Caoimhin Kelleher also played a starring role, with the Irishman making four saves across the 90 minutes, with most of them very decent stops indeed.

Having other teams take points off rivals is all well and good if Liverpool then take advantage, but because they are playing after this result, it might be a bit trickier than before.

Burnley are no pushovers, especially when playing at Turf Moor, meaning the Reds need to just focus on the task at hand.

A win would see them go back to the top of the table on a maximum of 12 points, three points above Tottenham, Arsenal and Bournemouth.

Liverpool also have six games in September so getting help from others might prove vital, but so too is kicking off the month the way they finished the last.
