Liverpool are Premier League champions, a statement no supporter would have predicted before the season started last summer.
The Reds went into the 2024/25 campaign with a new manager in Arne Slot, yet it didn’t take long for the Dutch coach to prove to Liverpool fans that he was the perfect replacement for Jurgen Klopp, with the Anfield side going top of the Premier League in November and remaining there all season.
Finishing the season ten points clear of second-placed Arsenal, the 2024/25 campaign will go down in history for Liverpool as one of their best, with supporters finally getting the chance to celebrate a Premier League title win together having been robbed of the chance in 2020.
And for Slot, the former Feyenoord manager can feel extra smug after making a prediction in pre-season that has since come true at Liverpool.

Speaking to the media in last summer’s pre-season, Slot made the bold claim that the Liverpool squad he had inherited from Klopp was good enough to win trophies in the following campaign, a prediction that came true and then some with the Premier League.
With Liverpool also making the Carabao Cup final, this season could have been even better for the Reds had things gone in a different direction, yet few fans will be complaining with what Slot has managed to achieve in his first year in England.

Slot said: “You inherit a squad and a team that has a winning culture.
And one of the reasons to come here – and there are always more for this – but one of the reasons is that I do feel we have a real good team, a real good squad.
“I think as a manager you want to work at a club where there are good players with the opportunity to win something, and the past has shown that there is a possibility for Liverpool to win some trophies.”
With Liverpool close to signing Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz, the Reds are moving fast already to improve the squad for the upcoming season as Slot plans to bring in as much quality through the door as soon as possible.
And aside from reclaiming the Premier League title next season, Liverpool fans will now be expecting more from Slot in all competitions, with a deeper run in the UEFA Champions League a must as well as making a real attempt at winning the FA Cup.
Indeed, Liverpool have all the tools needed to go one better than they did this season under Slot, and the Dutch manager seems intent on doing just that with some world-class additions in the market and trimming the squad so every player has a use.
