Arsenal and Liverpool both have a busy transfer window ahead of them and are chasing similar targets, although they face stiff competition for one man’s signature from some of the other Premier League’s big-hitters.

Mikel Arteta and Arne Slot need to dip into the transfer market for very different reasons, with one aiming to secure his first Premier League title as manager, while the other looks to retain theirs.

Arsenal are often linked with a striker and are tipped heavily to spend big in this area this summer, while potential exits for Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and maybe even Luis Diaz leave a void to fill towards the top of the pitch for Liverpool.

Options are certainly plentiful and some of the biggest strikers could make big money moves, although there is one in particular that both clubs, as well as three others in the league, are chasing.

Borussia Dortmund’s Serhou Guirassy is one of Europe’s top talents and according to the German outlet BILD, five of the ‘top six’ Premier League clubs are chasing his signature, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea set to battle it out.

The 29-year-old joined Dortmund from VFB Stuttgart just last season and has a release clause of £60m, with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain also keeping tabs on the Guinea international.

Strikers appear to be a top target for a number of sides this summer, but with the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Alexander Isak, Victor Osimhen and Benjamin Sesko all commanding hefty transfer fees, Guirassy might be a more affordable and suitable target for many.

MORE PREMIER LEAGUE STORIES

Guirassy has been nothing short of sensational during his debut campaign with Dortmund and is the joint top-scorer in the Champions League this season with 13, level with Barcelona’s Raphinha, and has broken the record for the most goals scored by an African in a single season of the competition.

He has also netted 20 times in the Bundesliga, behind only Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane in the race for the golden boot.

Despite only being at Dortmund for one season, the club will face a tough summer in trying to keep their star player, which is made more difficult by the £60m release clause inserted into his contract that so many clubs are aware of.
