Arsenal fans reacted all but unanimously after confirmation of Noni Madueke’s injury extent, with criticism on Mikel Arteta’s training methods.

Madueke was forced off against Man City in Arsenal’s latest fixture in the Premier League, where Bukayo Saka replaced him at half-time.

It came at an unfortunate time for the winger as Madueke had performed impressively for Arteta’s side in Saka’s absence.

This also comes as the Gunners have been plagued by injury, with Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Piero Hincapie all being sidelined so far this season.

Now, the extent of Madueke’s injury has been confirmed, and Arsenal fans are not happy as they fear the mounting problems could derail their campaign again.

David Ornstein confirmed on X on 23 September that Madueke is set for two months out with a knee injury.

The update comes as a relief in one respect, as he added that the winger has avoided any anterior cruciate ligament damage, despite earlier concern that there may have been a tear.

The North London club now have five first-team players out with injury, and it comes after Havertz also suffered a knee injury in training last month.

Arsenal signed Madueke in the summer for an initial £48 million, and despite fan frustration regarding the signing, he has proven he can play an important part in the team.

He is yet to provide a goal contribution since his debut, but provided a threat on the right wing when Saka was injured with a recurring hamstring problem.

Over the last year, the Gunners have seen numerous key players injured, and fans are now calling out the manager and the medical team.

Last season, Havertz, Gabriel Martinelli, Saka and Gabriel Magalhaes suffered hamstring problems and were out for a considerable period of time.

Their lack of squad depth was evident as Mikel Merino had to play as an emergency striker after Gabriel Jesus endured an ACL tear earlier in the year.

Now, following the latest news on Madueke, fans have scrutinised the coach’s methods as well as the situation, with one saying: “Something is seriously wrong with the medical department or training methods”.

Another added that it’s “getting ridiculous now” and that “Arteta’s training methods and the physios need to be questioned”.
