Arsenal supporters have been left dumbfounded by new stats after Max Dowman’s England Under-19s display during the international break.
Dowman could break history by becoming the youngest player to appear in the Champions League this season, having broken into Mikel Arteta‘s set-up during pre-season.
The 15-year-old made his first senior appearance against Leeds United, winning a penalty during the 5-0 thumping at Elland Road, before even coming on against Liverpool at Anfield.
Gunners legend Paul Merson has already dubbed Dowman a “freak” after what he’s seen from the academy gem so far, and that kind of reaction is only going to continue this season.

With Arteta’s squad broken up for the international break, the winger has skipped multiple age groups to be with England U19s, featuring in a thrilling 3-3 draw against Spain on Saturday, 6 September.
He was even allowed to start the game for the Young Lions, and good thing for the team as well, as he went on to record an incredible statistic during the first 45 minutes.
According to TNT Sports, Dowman was fouled a total of 10 times in just the first half, emulating that of club teammates Bukayo Saka and Eberechi Eze when clinging onto possession.

Unsurprisingly, supporters have been quick to react to the outstanding stat, but even those back at the Emirates Stadium cannot quite believe what they have seen from the talented 15-year-old.
One supporter compared Dowman’s stat to the number of times that Newcastle United‘s Bruno Guimaraes was fouled last season, which was three per 90 minutes, writing, “This isn’t normal”.
Another wrote, “We’ve got our [Lamine] Yamal”, who burst onto the scene at 16 years of age, while another labelled him as “the best young footballer in the world at the moment”.
Of course, this is huge praise to live up to at such a young age, but with the youngster taking everything in his stride, it would not be a surprise to see him play a big role for the Gunners this season.
Arteta will be keen to protect the player from Premier League defenders, but if he can work on his strength over the coming years, he could become unstoppable.
