Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard may still be in the running for Sunday's Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield, according to recent reports.

The Gunners' skipper was forced to leave the pitch during the first half of Saturday's 5-0 victory over Leeds United due to a shoulder injury, with Ethan Nwaneri stepping in as his replacement.

Following the match, it was reported that Odegaard left the Emirates Stadium with his shoulder in a sling.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that the Norwegian international had "felt something" in his shoulder and would undergo scans to assess the extent of the damage.

Arteta addressed the issue in a post-match press conference, stating: "That's the negatives of the day.

Martin [Odegaard] felt something in his shoulder when he landed."

He added: "We don't know, we'll have to scan him tomorrow and understand a bit better."

In light of this, an event featuring Odegaard Arsenal's Armoury store on Monday was postponed.

However, BBC Sport has reported that the former Real Madrid midfielder has not been ruled out for the upcoming game in Merseyside.

New signing Eberechi Eze could potentially step in for his debut this weekend, with Noni Madueke also being considered.

On the other hand, Bukayo Saka is expected to be sidelined for three to four weeks.

The 23-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in the second half over the weekend, raising fears of another severe hamstring issue.

However, it's believed that he will be absent for the match against Liverpool as well as England's World Cup qualifiers against Andorra and Serbia next month.
