Although the Gunners were accused of playing too negatively, it was fairly end-to-end at times with both sides taking some risk.
Of course, many of the players involved in the clash are now together with their national teams – including Cody Gakpo and Jurrien Timber.
After Szoboszlai had already fired the Reds into the lead, there was a little moment between the Dutch pair.
Timber appeared to be struggling with cramps and was initially helped by his compatriot.
However, when Gakpo stepped away, Timber appeared to react angrily.
In response, Gakpo returned and extended his arm once more to help.
When Timber did not take the offered support, the Liverpool man simply walked away with a dismissive gesture
However, Timber has now cleared up the air while speaking to the media, and brushed it off as a brief misunderstanding – even asserting that he and Gakpo laughed about it on the plane ride to the Dutch camp
“There was a brief incident between Cody and me,” he said as quoted by De Telegraaf.
“Mainly due to a misunderstanding.
We both laughed about it on the plane to the Netherlands.”
“No, Cody and I don’t fight?
We’re close to each other, just like we are with all fourteen Premier League players in the Dutch national team
It’s nice to see teammates almost every league game.”
“It makes the conversations in the Dutch national team more enjoyable.
He added that he still feels Arsenal can go on and win the title despite the blow at Anfield:
“Although the defeat at Liverpool remains a bit of a stain… still, I have complete confidence that with this Arsenal team, we can win the Premier League after two decades.”
It’s good to hear that there was no bad blood between the two players.
Meanwhile, Gakpo also spoke on international duty about the Bayern Munich interest in him over the summer.
