Arsenal supporters have sent a clear message to the boardroom after a huge blow to Kai Havertz’s 2025/26 campaign.

The German forward missed several months last season with a knee injury, missing after the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle United in February before returning to action against the same opponents in May.

He was joined by Arsenal’s exit-linked Gabriel Jesus on the treatment table for much of last term, and could now face a similar prospect, handing a new headache to Mikel Arteta.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein (20 August), the 26-year-old is set for another spell on the sidelines via a new knee injury, with the prognosis and length of injury unclear at this point.

It is understood that the Gunners are exploring new options in the transfer market following the blow, and fans are clear on what they want before 1 September.

Arteta was under heavy pressure from Arsenal fans last season, having failed to secure the signing of a striker, but even with Viktor Gyokeres added to the forward line, fans want more.

The manager was forced to adapt Mikel Merino from centre-midfield to striker, and while he flourished in the position, a lack of a natural attacker was likely the difference between silverware and second place.

Leandro Trossard has put pen to paper on a new deal at the Emirates, but many expected the Belgian to find a new club this summer, so supporters are underwhelmed by the club’s business once again.

Now, fans are listing countless potential targets for Arteta and Andrea Berta to consider before the transfer window slams shut, sending a message to the board in the process.

Swarming onto social media to react to Havertz’s latest setback, one supporter cited the outrage during the January transfer window, suggesting that a similar situation would create a “head loss” among fans.

Multiple fans were hopeful that the news would “force the club” to dive into the transfer market and secure a replacement, or even an upgrade, such as Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, to support Gyokeres in domestic and European competitions.

The Gunners have already signed Noni Madueke from Chelsea, but with that being the only other attacking signing, the frustration is still clearly being felt at the Emirates this summer.
