Darwin Nunez looks likely to leave Liverpool this summer, with Arsenal being encouraged to sign him(Image: Getty Images)
Arsenal have been advised to consider signing Darwin Nunez following reports that Liverpool might be open to selling the striker.
The 25-year-old Uruguayan international has a high chance of departing Anfield in the coming months after only a modest return in front of goal this season, despite the Reds' Premier League title win.
Nunez has previously attracted attention from Middle Eastern clubs, with Italian teams AC Milan and Napoli also showing an interest.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is now being urged to contemplate a move for Nunez after the Gunners finished second behind Liverpool this season.
Ex-Liverpool forward Dean Saunders has raised the suggestion, boldly predicting that Nunez could net Arsenal 25 goals next season.
Such a goal tally would require a significant improvement from Nunez, who only managed to score seven times across all competitions in his latest campaign.
However, Saunders, the former Wolves and Wrexham manager, believes that Arsenal would be fortunate to secure Nunez's services after describing their current transfer targets as "gambles".
RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Sporting CP's Viktor Gyokeres are reportedly Arsenal's top targets, although Sesko appears to be the preferred choice.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Saunders said: "Is there any fan out there that would be disappointed if their club was linked with Nunez?
He's not got enough goals for Liverpool, but I think we all look at him with the same eyes.
