'As a team': Curtis Jones shares what Arne Slot made the Liverpool squad watch together after winning the league

Liverpool players and supporters have had quite the week after being confirmed as Premier League champions last Sunday.

The day itself could hardly have gone better for anyone of a Reds’ persuasion.

With the sun beating down on Merseyside and Tottenham Hotspur providing the perfect opponent, Liverpool romped home to a 20th English league title.

The celebrations that followed were unlike anything Anfield has ever seen before, as 35 years of pent up emotion was finally released.

In the days since, with no game to focus on, every Liverpool supporter will have been endlessly re-living Sunday through videos and photographs, either taken personally or via social media.

And, as it turns out, the Liverpool squad have been doing exactly the same.

According to Curtis Jones, head coach Arne Slot made sure of it by putting together a special video in the days after the title was secured.

One of the best things about Liverpool’s Anfield celebrations was seeing Slot let loose and enjoy himself.

The Dutchman has been a revelation this season and really deserved his moment.

But in typical fashion, Slot was also keen to make sure it was all about the players – and Jurgen Klopp too, of course.

And according to Jones, the Reds boss and the Liverpool coaching staff put together a special celebratory video for the players to watch when back in training this week.

“It’s what we did as a team,” the midfielder told liverpoolfc.com when asked if he’s been watching back footage from Sunday.

There’s certain things of course that you all miss so just seeing it all back was a joy to see.”

Although Jones was clearly delighted with the title win – and was beautifully seen celebrating with supporters on the Anfield pitch – he did also allude to a frustration that he has not contributed as much as some other players this season.

“I’ve probably been one of the ones who has been unfortunate at times that I’ve had to be changed in and out of the team for reasons,” says the 24-year-old.

“He [Arne Slot] is the man and he’s got to pick his team, and I respect that.

I’ve always thought if I’m starting or not I’m going to come off this bench, or if I’m starting I’m going to get goals and assists.

“If I didn’t start games, I would never sulk and I’d never moan because at the end of the year this is what it is all about.”

Having featured in 29 of Liverpool’s 34 Premier League matches this season, starting 16 of them, we’re not sure Jones has quite the gripe he thinks he does here.
