Ashley Cole has told Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold that he must improve his 'feet patterns' if he is going to develop defensively.
Cole believes that Alexander-Arnold needs to develop his 'feet patterns' so he can better anticipate an opponent's run or dribble.
'The area he can improve would be his feet patterns - movements which allows him to turn and match his opponents run or dribble,' Cole tweeted in response to Carragher's advice.
'Foot patterns will get you in defensive positions to turn quick'.
Alexander-Arnold may pay heed to Cole's advice, having enjoyed a glittering playing career to retire as one of English football's best ever full backs.
The 40-year-old has won six Premier League titles, seven FA Cups, the League Cup once as well as the Champions League and Europa League.
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp staunchly defended his star man prior to the Reds' trip to Madrid, querying Southgate's decision to omit the 22-year-old from his squad for last month's World Cup qualifiers.
