Aston Villa fully support manager Unai Emery and have no plans to sack him, sources have told Football Insider.

The Midlands giants have had a very disappointing start to the season, and it took until their fifth game for Matty Cash to score their first Premier League goal of the campaign.

Cash’s opener was cancelled out by a Wilson Isidor strike on Sunday (21 September), as Villa could only manage a 1-1 draw against 10-man Sunderland, with Emery publicly criticising his players after the game.

However, despite the poor form and the public fall-out, sources say that the board are not considering a change in management.

Since his arrival in November 2022, Emery has transformed Aston Villa from a team fighting Premier League relegation to a team consistently battling for European football.

Last season, Villa only missed out on Champions League football as a result of a poor refereeing decision, and instead will feature in the Europa League this term.

Emery has a lot of credit in the bank, so it would need a lot more than just a few bad games for him to be dismissed.

Also, sources say that the Spaniard has a very good relationship with the board and is a well-respected figure at Villa Park.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa’s terrible start to the season has reportedly been caused by several “unhappy” stars behind the scenes.

That is according to their former senior scout Mick Brown, who claims that a turbulent summer window has left multiple players questioning their positions.

The likes of Emiliano Martinez and Ollie Watkins have been unsettled by talk surrounding their futures.

In addition, there have been suggestions that Aston Villa’s dressing room are raging at Jacob Ramsey’s sale, with Tyrone Mings having publicly addressed the concerns.
