Aston Villa are closing in on the signing of Harvey Elliott according to David Ornstein.

The 2024-25 season proved particularly frustrating, with the midfielder managing just two Premier League starts – both coming after Liverpool had already secured the title.

With his contract running until 2027, Liverpool hold a strong negotiating position, but they also recognise Elliott’s need for regular playing time.

It was always thought that Liverpool would be keen to cash in on the England U21 star this summer if a good enough offer arrived.

And it seems one has now landed on the laps of the Anfield chiefs.

Reporting for the Athletic, the transfer journalist revealed that the Villains are in discussions over a loan move with an obligation to buy next summer:
