The 2024-25 season proved particularly frustrating, with the midfielder managing just two Premier League starts – both coming after Liverpool had already secured the title.
With his contract running until 2027, Liverpool hold a strong negotiating position, but they also recognise Elliott’s need for regular playing time.
It was always thought that Liverpool would be keen to cash in on the England U21 star this summer if a good enough offer arrived.
And it seems one has now landed on the laps of the Anfield chiefs.
Reporting for the Athletic, the transfer journalist revealed that the Villains are in discussions over a loan move with an obligation to buy next summer:
“Aston Villa is closing in on a Deadline Day deal to sign Harvey Elliott from Liverpool before the transfer window closes.”
“Aston Villa are advancing in talks over a season-long loan with a buy obligation; Liverpool is seeking £35 million or more for the 22-year-old forward.”
“Discussions between the clubs have centred around a structure of an agreement that ensures Villa comply with UEFA’s financial restrictions.”
