Will there be extra time and penalties in Atalanta vs Liverpool Europa League quarter-final clash?
If Atalanta vs Liverpool ends level on aggregate after two legs of 90 minutes each, the teams will play an additional 30 minutes of extra time.
If the teams remain tied, a winner will be decided by a penalty shootout.
As per usual, the teams will take five penalties each and if they are still level, it will then go to sudden death.
Is there an away goals rule in Europa League quarter-finals?
The rule used to state that if teams were level then whichever had scored more away goals would progress.
However, this was abolished in all UEFA club competitions from the 202122 season onwards.
Now, regardless of whether you draw 0-0 away and 3-3 at home, that tie would still go to extra time and then potentially penalties.
