The former England defender spent his whole career with the Reds.
He racked up 737 appearances for Liverpool, second only to Ian Callaghan in the club’s history.
A product of Liverpool’s youth system, Carragher made his senior debut in January 1997 and quickly established himself as a mainstay at Anfield.
He played a key role in the historic 2000/01 campaign, featuring in 58 of Liverpool’s 63 fixtures as Gerard Houllier’s side clinched a famous cup treble – lifting the League Cup, FA Cup, and UEFA Cup.
Carragher served for many years as vice-captain to Steven Gerrard as he wore the armband 94 times.
His remarkable longevity was underlined when he won the 2012 League Cup, more than 15 years after his first-team debut.
The last of his 737 appearances came in May 2013, when the England international brought the curtain down on his illustrious career.
Athletic Club have now announced Carragher as the recipient of their prestigious One-Club Man award for 2025.
“After winning the Champions League, being a one-club man is the biggest achievement of my career,” he said.
“It was an honour when Athletic Club got in touch.
Athletic are respected everywhere in the world of football.
They’re a truly unique club.
“I’m very honoured to receive this award and to know my name will always remain alongside some great footballers like [previous winners] Paolo Maldini and Carles Puyol.
“As soon as I started playing for Liverpool, I knew I wanted to be a one-club man?
I like the idea that when people ask, ‘Who did you play for?’, you respond ‘Liverpool’ and nothing else.
“I was a supporter on the pitch.”
Jamie Carragher will receive the award at San Mames when Athletic Club face Girona in La Liga later this month.
