Atletico Madrid have been dealt a potential triple injury blow ahead of their Champions League clash with Liverpool.

The Reds will host the Spanish outfit at Anfield on Wednesday night in their first league phase fixture of the competition this season.

Liverpool will be hoping to enjoy a better run in the competition this season compared to last, where they reached the last-16 stage before losing to eventual winners Paris Saint-Germain in a penalty shootout.



The Reds enjoyed an impressive league phase in Europe last term, winning their first seven matches and eventually finishing top of the 36-team table.



Arne Slot has been forced to deal with some injury concerns in the early weeks of the season, and now Atletico are also dealing with their own concerns.

Julian Alvarez, David Hancko and Robin Le Normand were all substituted with suspected injuries during the 2-0 win over Villarreal on Saturday.

Speaking after the game, Simone said: “We haven't spoken to each of the boys' doctors.

We'll have more information tomorrow morning,

Simeone also confirmed that Hancko suffered an ankle injury during Atletico's win over Villarreal, with further assessment needed tod determine if the defender will miss the trip to Anfield.

He said: "He twisted his ankle a little, so we'll have more information on Sunday morning."
