The BBC have revealed what Real Madrid are willing to offer to get Trent Alexander-Arnold ahead of the Club World Cup.
Real Madrid are intensifying efforts to secure Trent Alexander-Arnold’s early release from Liverpool, aiming to integrate the defender into their squad ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off on June 15 in the United States.
The 32-team Club World Cup, featuring sides like Chelsea, Manchester City, and Inter Miami, marks FIFA’s shift to a quadrennial format.
The Spanish giants, who verbally agreed to sign the 26-year-old on a free transfer this summer, want Alexander-Arnold available for their group-stage opener against Al-Hilal on June 18 – a full two weeks before his Liverpool contract expires on July 1.
Liverpool holds significant leverage in talks, as they are under no obligation to release Alexander-Arnold early.
The urgency stems from FIFA’s registration windows for the Club World Cup:
June 1–10: Initial registration period for squad submissions.
June 27–July 3: Mid-tournament window for replacements?
If Liverpool refuse, Alexander-Arnold could only debut in Madrid’s round-of-16 match on July 4 – a scenario the La Liga side is keen to avoid.
And according to the BBC’s Sami Mokbel, Real Madrid are looking to offer around £850,000 to release the England international early from his deal so he can play the entire CWC.
Trent Alexander-Arnold would miss Real Madrid’s group stage matches in June against Al Hilal (June 18), Pachuca (June 22), and Salzburg (June 27) if Liverpool do not agree to an early release.
However, if Liverpool refuse to let him leave before his contract expires on June 30, Alexander-Arnold could still join Real Madrid for the later stages of the Club World Cup.
This early release fee value is based on Real Madrid paying Liverpool for the last month of Alexander-Arnold’s contract, which is estimated to cost between £800,000 and £1 million.
