Liverpool are diligently working towards securing the signing of Florian Wirtz this summer.

According to the latest report from BILD, Liverpool’s latest bid includes a fixed £100 million (€120 million) upfront, supplemented by £10–12 million (€10.5–12.6 million) in performance-related add-ons, bringing the total package to €130.5–133 million.

However, Leverkusen continues to hold out for €150 million (£126 million), creating a €17 million gap between the clubs.

Negotiations now focus on bridging this disparity through payment installments and achievable bonuses, such as Champions League qualification and trophy triumphs.

The Anfield club aim to finalize the transfer before Wirtz joins Germany’s UEFA Nations League squad next week.

The proposed fee would shatter the club’s previous record of £85 million for Darwin Nunez and approach the Premier League’s all-time high of £115 million (Moises Caicedo).

To offset costs, Liverpool will likely make sales with Nunez, Harvey Elliott, and Kostas Tsimikas amongst those with good chances of departing.

Wirtz is viewed as the creative force Liverpool need, especially as the club looks to add attacking invention to replace the influence of Trent Alexander-Arnold in advanced areas.

And while Liverpool fans await the official announcement of Jeremie Frimpong, which we exclusively revealed would be on Friday, BILD have bought forth an interesting observation on the Wirtz saga.

They claim that an “important point” that needs to be ironed out is the 22-year-old’s training fee and who should pay the amount.

BILD reporter Axel Hessian reveals:

“An important point with such mega transfers: Who pays the training compensation?”

“Five percent of the transfer fee will be distributed to the clubs for which the star played between the ages of 12 and 23?

Wirtz joined from 1 FC Cologne in January 2020.

“He moved at the age of 16.”

“For the Bundesliga newcomers [FC Cologne], it is about around three million euros.”

It then seems that the clubs Liverpool and Leverkusen have to on who or how the training compensation will be paid.

The two clubs may decide to pay half which, are make an argument as to why the other club should pay the full amount.

This insight showcases just how complicated the deal is, and details us as fans aren’t even aware of that need astute negotiations.
