Ballon d’Or ranking update: Where Mohamed Salah stands?

The Ballon d’Or race is heating up again, and with the latest odds out, all eyes are on where Mohamed Salah stands among the frontrunners.

According to the latest update from oddschecker, Dembele currently leads the rankings with a commanding 77.5% chance of taking home football’s biggest individual prize.

Winning the Champions League often plays a major role in deciding the Ballon d’Or rankings — and Dembele’s triumph with PSG has given him a big boost this year.

Barcelona rising star Lamine Yamal follows with 25%, while Vitinha and Mbappé sit just behind in third and fourth.

Mohamed Salah finds himself in fifth place with 4.8% odds, still very much in the mix, but with a significant gap to close if he’s to challenge the current leaders when the new season kicks off.

Other big names in the top 10 include Kvaratskhelia, Raphinha, Donnarumma, Doue, and Pedri.

And down in 11th, Cristiano Ronaldo still makes the list with 1.2% — a testament to what he’s doing at 40, refusing to drift out of football’s biggest conversations.

Despite sitting fifth in the latest Ballon d’Or odds, Salah’s focus has always been bigger than just personal glory.

In the 2024–25 season, he scored 34 goals and provided 23 assists in 52 appearances, guiding Liverpool to their historic 20th league title.

He finished top of the Premier League for both goals and assists.

Underlining once again why he remains in the conversation for football’s biggest individual honour.

Yet the gap to the frontrunners like Dembélé is clear, and with only a few matches left before the Ballon d’Or is awarded on 22 September 2025, closing it won’t be easy.

But for Salah, the award has always meant more than just another trophy.

“If I win it, it will be great.

But I always have that image in my head: I just want to win it for my people.

That thing is stuck in my head,” he said last month.

For now, all eyes are on whether Salah’s final push — with the new season kicking off next month he can turn those odds into something special.
