Barcelona provides Liverpool with competition for Rúben Amorim
With Xabi Alonso having made it clear that he intends to remain with Bayer Leverkusen next season, Liverpool needs to look elsewhere.
Sporting CP head coach Rúben Amorim appears to be the new favorite for the position.
However, Barcelona is hoping to put a spanner in the works for any plans to snap up the exciting young managerial talent.
The Camp Nou side, according to the Independent, wants to get in there and wrap up a deal before the Anfield outfit does.

It is suggested that Amorim has a release clause worth around $16m (£13m/€15m) that would need to be paid.
But that would not be an obstacle for Liverpool as it looks to find the best successor for Jürgen Klopp.
At Sporting, Amorim ended a 19-year wait for a league title in his first season in charge and has been in the top three positions in Portugal at all times in that job.
Michael Edwards, who was brought back to work with Liverpool as FSG's CEO of football, has been tasked with identifying a club that Liverpool's ownership group could purchase.
It remains to be seen exactly who that is (or even what region it might be in) but Marques' appointment could be interesting with regards to that.
If the second club was in Portugal, that is a region where Liverpool has regularly shopped in recent years.
