Liverpool were the biggest spenders in the Premier League during the recent summer transfer window.

The final signing of the window was Alexander Isak, who joined on deadline day for a British-record fee of £125million from Newcastle United.

However, one move the club could not complete was the signing of Marc Guehi, with Crystal Palace blocking the defender’s transfer in the final hours of the window.

Guehi’s name is likely to remain part of transfer discussions leading up to the next January window.

Liverpool FC Women have also been active in strengthening their squad ahead of the new season.

Midfielder Emilia Szymczak has joined the team on a season-long loan from FC Barcelona, finalising her move on deadline day.

The 19-year-old will spend the 2025–26 campaign on Merseyside.

Szymczak has mainly featured for Barcelona’s B team since joining the club in 2023, although she has also played at senior level in the Copa Catalunya and during pre-season.

She has earned 14 caps for Poland, including appearances at the Women’s Euros this summer and in the UEFA Nations League.

Szymczak began her professional career in her homeland with Górnik ??czna before moving to Spain.

After putting pen to paper at the AXA Melwood Training Centre, she told Liverpoolfc.com: “It’s amazing to be here

This is a big club and I’m so happy to be a part of it.

“I just felt Liverpool has a bright future and I know the WSL and this league is so strong, and I know I can develop more as a player here and try, and the club can offer me the best.”

She added: “I can’t wait to see all of you on Sunday and at all of the games.

“I just want to assure you that I will give everything for the group and everything to make you happy.”
