Liverpool sold Jarell Quansah in a deal worth up to £35m in early July.
The Reds have been so focused on recruiting this summer that they have not sold too many players, although that will change in the coming weeks.
The first player that was sold this summer, however, was Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, with the Englishman keen to get more game time.
Despite getting a very respectable fee for the 22-year-old, as well as including a buy-back clause into his contract, the Reds may have misjudged the situation as they are now very short of options in defence.
And, after what the Leverkusen fans are saying after the defender made his debut for the club on Sunday evening, Liverpool may perhaps feel they have made a big mistake.

Not many English players are brave enough to move to an entirely new country and try and make a name for themselves, although Quansah has done just that.
The Bundesliga has been a great place over recent years for youngsters to develop, with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Jadon Sancho and Jamie Bynoe-Gittens all kick-starting their careers for real in Germany.
Quansah is aiming to do the same and after his debut in a 2-0 win over VfL Bochum, Leverkusen fans can really understand why they spent good money to get him.

One fan sent a sly dig to Liverpool with a humorous comment, writing: “Send Liverpool another 40 million, we have absolutely robbed them.”
Another put: “I really liked him he was like a wall,” while another put: “He’s got what it takes to be the next big thing, but he needs to play more and believe in himself.”

Another admitted that his mind has been changed, writing: “I had my doubts about Quansah but he is proving me wrong with every moment.
A fifth fan put: “Jarell is a good player all he needs is playtime thanks LFC,” with a sixth simply adding: “He was incredibly good.”
One supporter went as far as comparing him to their former club captain and somewhat of a legend, putting: “He was very good compared to Tah.”
The final fan put: “He’s a good player and playing regularly in this league will help him improve no end!”
Of course, the fee that Leverkusen submitted would have been hard to turn down and Quansah wanted regular minutes, but in all honesty, he would have got that at Liverpool.
The Englishman played over 1,000 minutes last season and due to the Reds’ shortage at the back, this probably would have only increased next season.
Joe Gomez is injury prone and has been sent home from the pre-season tour already because of this, meaning Quansah would still be the backup choice for either Virgil van Dijk or Ibrahima Konate.
And, with the latter’s contract running out next summer and there being no guarantee he signs an extension, then Quansah could have been his long-term successor.
Now, however, Liverpool are in the market for at least one centre-back, preferably aged between 18-22, a profile the Englishman already fitted.
Richard Hughes does not make too many mistakes and despite getting a good fee and buy-back clause on him, this move might be one regretted by the hierarchy at Anfield.
