Bayer Leverkusen have issued a heartfelt statement on Jeremie Frimpong after he completed his £29.5million switch to Liverpool on Friday.
The club had been in talks with Leverkusen and Frimpong's representatives for some time, while the right-back had even spoken with head coach Arne Slot on a few occasions.
"I spoke to the manager a few times," Frimpong told LFCTV.
So, I've always heard good things about the coach.
Upon leaving the German outfit, Frimpong said: "Leverkusen was a very special stage in what I hope will be a long career as a professional.
This club remains an important part of my personal history - and I thank Bayer 04 and the fans for a fantastic time."
Meanwhile, their sporting director Simon Rolfes added: "Jeremie is a perfect example of the path that Bayer 04 Leverkusen has often taken with great success; bringing a young, highly talented player from a small league and developing him into a top performer
Jerry was a central player in our double [winning] team, he has become a crowd favourite with his special manner and thanks to his good performances
