Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Simon Rolfes has responded to Florian Wirtz and Liverpool links
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the Anfield club have submitted an initial bid for Florian Wirtz, aiming to secure the transfer swiftly and prevent a drawn-out negotiation process.
Reports indicate that the Reds’ offer exceeds €100 million.
Wirtz, who recently visited the UK with his family, is said to have been strongly influenced by direct talks with new manager Arne Slot, whose vision for Liverpool proved pivotal in convincing the attacker.
The German international has communicated to Bayer Leverkusen his intention to join Liverpool, and the club is now pushing to complete the deal promptly to ward off any late approaches from rival teams.
Leverkusen have lofty ambitions for next season having signed Erik Ten Hag as their new manager, and will not want to sell directly to Bundesliga competitors Bayern Munich.
Die Werkself have not sold a player to Bayern since 2004.
And it looks like the tradition will continue, with director Simon Rolfes revealing that Liverpool’s interest is “concrete”:
The Atheltic’s Seb Stafford-Bloor has brought forth quotes for the sporting director, who confirmed Liverpool interest:
“He’s one of our players.
There’s concrete interest from Liverpool,” he said.
