Bayern Munich has reportedly decided that it is not willing to pay any more than €60 million ($70 million), plus add-ons, to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool this summer.
Diaz's future has been the subject of intense speculation for several weeks, with Bayern and Barcelona — as well as clubs in Saudi Arabia — linked with a move for the Colombia international.
Bayern Insider reports that Bayern has taken a step back with its pursuit of Diaz in a show of respect to the Anfield club following last week's tragic passing of Diogo Jota, but the German club does want to sign the 28-year-old before the summer window closes.
It had looked as though Barcelona would sign Nico Williams from Athletic Club, but for a second summer in a row, it failed to get a deal over the line for the Spain international.
Williams signed a new 10-year contract at Athletic Club last week, sending Barca back to the drawing board with its list of targets.
Bayern is also interested in a new winger following the departure of Leroy Sane, who signed for Galatasaray as a free agent last month.
Diaz was due to return to Liverpool training this week, although it is not clear exactly what day, and ahead of his return to the club, he was asked by Colombian influencer La Liendra about his future plans.
“We’re there, negotiating," Diaz said

Trying to make the best decision, now."
Diaz is contracted to Liverpool until 2027, but he remains on the same terms that he signed upon joining the club from Porto in 2022, meaning that he is significantly underpaid relative to his importance to Arne Slot's squad.
According to Capology, Diaz currently earns £55,000 ($73,000) per week, which is far lower than his teammates of a similar standing.
Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Federico Chiesa are all reported to earn more than double the amount that Diaz takes home, and Diaz could be forgiven for finding that galling given Chiesa barely played last season and the Colombian scored more goals than Gakpo and Nunez.
Liverpool has reportedly attempted to address Diaz's contract situation but little progress has been made, but rather than sell him this summer — unless a massive offer comes in — the Reds would prefer to maximize Diaz's performance value over the next two years and allow him to leave for nothing following in 2027.
