Bayern Munich legend Karl-Heinz Rummenigge spoke about Liverpool’s latest signing, Florian Wirtz, in February.
Liverpool broke their club record to sign the German youngster after spending nearly £116m to bring him to Anfield this summer.
The Merseyside club officially announced the signing last Friday, and since then, many former players and coaches have praised the talented midfielder.
Wirtz himself also revealed some insights behind his arrival in England.
Wirtz said: “Finally it’s done and I was waiting for a long time – finally it’s done and I am really happy.”
He further added: “I’m really excited to have a new adventure in front of me.
Wirtz stated: “The conversations were always really good.
I remember the first time we spoke; he showed me some footage of how we want to play and how I could fit into the team.”
He also added: “He was just telling me that I’m a player he really wants to have in his team and can bring the team a step forward.
Wirtz’s performances for Germany and his former club Bayer Leverkusen have been impressive.
He has scored over 10 goals and provided over 10 assists in consecutive Bundesliga seasons, a feat achieved only by him and Mohamed Salah in Europe’s top five leagues.
