Cody Gakpo is the subject of surprise interest from Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich.
The Liverpool star enjoyed a stellar 2024/25 season that culminated in the Reds lifting the Premier League title and reaching the Carabao Cup final.
The Dutchman was one of Arne Slot’s most trusted players, making 49 appearances in all competitions.
He also scored 18 goals and assisted seven across all competitions this season.
While almost all the players across the Liverpool attack have been linked with a move away from the club, Gakpo’s name has rarely been mentioned among players who could leave.
His place in the Liverpool team is secure, and Slot trusts him.
However, a new report from Sky Germany has linked him with a surprise move to the Bundesliga.
According to Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg, Bayern Munich have added Gakpo to the list of potential wingers they could sign this summer.
The Bavarians, who have appeared to have moved on from their pursuit of Florian Wirtz after losing the battle for the German international to Liverpool, are looking to sign a high-profile winger this summer.
Brighton winger Kaoru Mitoma is high on the list of players they want, alongside AC Milan winger Rafael Leao and Gakpo.
As per the report, Bayern have already ‘made contact regarding’ Gakpo, who is said to be liked by Max Eberl, the club’s director of sports.
“FC Bayern are now also considering Cody Gakpo in their search for a high-profile left winger,” Plettenberg reported on X.
“The 26 y/o Dutchman is on the shortlist behind Kaoru Mitoma and Rafael Leao.
There has already been contact regarding Gakpo – and still is.
Max Eberl likes him.”
Surprisingly, Plettenberg also revealed that Liverpool may consider selling Gakpo if the right offer came this summer.
“Gakpo is considered a potential departure candidate at FC Liverpool if a suitable offer arrives,” he added.
