Bayern Munich are reportedly preparing a new offer for Luis Diaz after their initial attempt was swiftly rejected by Liverpool.

Diaz is in the final two years of his current contract at Anfield, which runs until June 2027.

Despite his status as one of Liverpool’s key attacking outlets, the club has made clear it does not intend to open negotiations on a new deal this summer.

With only 24 months remaining on his contract, Diaz faces the risk of entering the final year of his contract come next season, potentially weakening Liverpool’s bargaining position.

The 28-year-old enjoyed his most productive season in Liverpool colors – scoring 13 Premier League goals last term – yet his future at Anfield has come under scrutiny.

The Colombian is thought to earn around £140,000 per week with Liverpool, placing him well outside the top earners at Anfield and offering room for a substantial pay rise elsewhere.

A move to Bayern Munich would likely see his earnings increase markedly.

According to ESPN, Bayern Munich has already had a €67.5 million offer for Díaz turned down by Liverpool.

Now, unfazed, the German giants are preparing a new proposal worth €70 million plus performance-related add-ons, according to ESPN’s Javier Rodríguez Pascual.

Bayern’s interest has intensified since missing out on Athletic Club’s Nico Williams and signals the club’s intent to reinforce its wide-man options ahead of the new season.

According to the report, Diaz had initially set his sights on joining Barcelona, seeing the Catalan giants as the perfect next step.

But Barcelona were priced out of the move by the Reds, and have since pivoted to Marcus Rashford.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano has also corroborated the report to an extent, with the Italian reporting that “Bayern’s new proposal for Luis Diaz expected soon, as player opened doors to the move.”
