Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen has praised Liverpool for its professional approach during the negotiations that saw Luis Diaz complete his move to the Allianz Arena.

The Colombian winger concluded his three-and-a-half-year spell at Anfield when he joined the German powerhouse earlier this week for a fee that could reach $88 million (£66 million).

Liverpool had initially been hesitant to part with the winger following an outstanding season in which he netted 17 goals across all competitions under Arne Slot.

"In Luis Diaz, we have succeeded in bringing in one of the best left wingers in the Premier League," Dreesen said.

Diaz arrived at Liverpool from Porto for an initial $49 million (£37 million) in January 2022 and subsequently claimed the FA Cup, League Cup and Premier League during his spell at Anfield.

Bayern board member Max Eberl has disclosed the reasons behind their pursuit of the striker, stating: "Luis Diaz is a player with international experience, enormous quality, terrific skills and great reliability who will help our team immediately.

"We're delighted we've been able to bring him to FC Bayern.

Diaz was granted permission to exit the Premier League title-holders and on Monday he left Tokyo, where his former Liverpool teammates were gearing up for Wednesday's fixture against Yokohama Marinos, to head for Germany.
