Liverpool have been busy in the summer transfer window, signing Florian Wirtz in a club record deal alongside his former Bayer Leverkusen team-mate Jeremie Frimpong.

The Reds have also concluded a deal for Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth, while Armin Pecsi, Giorgi Marmardashvili, and Freddie Woodman have all made moves to Anfield from their respective former clubs.

Arne Slot’s side are advancing in talks with Eintracht Frankfurt over the transfer of Hugo Ekitike.

Liverpool made contact with the Bundesliga club on Wednesday over a possible move for the Frenchman, who was also targeted by Newcastle United, even though a move to Anfield had always been Ekitike’s preference.

Ekitike is one of the sought-after young forwards this summer, having scored 22 goals and provided 12 assists across all competitions for Frankfurt last season.

He joined Frankfurt permanently in a deal worth €17.5m in the summer of 2024, following a loan spell from PSG in the previous campaign.

The futures of Darwin Nunez, Federico Chiesa, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, and, more recently, Harvey Elliott have been up in the air.

Liverpool FC Women have also been busy strengthening their squad for next season.

They have completed the signing of Kirsty Maclean from Glasgow Rangers, as well as Germany goalkeeper Rafaela Borggrafe.

The 25-year-old joins the Reds on a free transfer after leaving SC Freiburg, where she spent more than a decade.

Liverpool FC Women have now confirmed the signing of Scotland international Sam Kerr from Bayern Munich.

The 26-year-old returns to the club having spent the second half of the last season on loan with the Reds.

She racked up 14 appearances and scored one goal in 2024-25.

Kerr moved to Bayern in 2023 and helped the German side lift the Frauen Bundesliga during her first season with the club.

“I’m so excited to get started and I’ve enjoyed my spell here so I just wanted to make it a little bit longer now,” she told Liverpoolfc.com.

“So I’m really happy that we could get it over the line and that I’m here for the long term.

“I think I knew after a couple of months that I was here that I was really loving it and if I had the opportunity to stay it’s something that I’d love to do.

“And when Liverpool came in, there wasn’t even a second thought?

It was, ‘I want to do this and I want to stay at Liverpool.’”

She was named Scotland Women’s Player of the Year in 2022 and was twice selected in the PFA Scotland Team of the Year (2021-22 and 2022-23).

“I think the WSL is probably the best league in the world right now and playing in that top league, in every game you have to be on it and it’s something that every player dreams to play in,” Kerr added.

“To be here, and to be here for the long term, is great for me as a player to improve and hopefully to implement the things I’m good at, hopefully bring them every game and get better as we go.”
