Manchester United suffered a 1-0 defeat to Arsenal in their Premier League opener at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Arsenal took the lead in the first half on 17 August when Riccardo Calafiori made the most of Altay Bayindir’s error to head home from close range.
Even though the Red Devils fell behind in the early proceedings, Man United summer signing Matheus Cunha was a bright spark in the opening 45 minutes, keeping Gunners goalkeeper David Raya busy.
Despite a largely positive performance, Ruben Amorim’s side fell to defeat thanks to Bayindir’s costly mistake.

Altay Bayindir – 4
The shot-stopper was totally at fault when Arsenal took the lead, as his failed punch fell straight into the path of Calafiori to score with ease.
His mistake inflicted a defeat on Man United on an otherwise positive afternoon.
Leny Yoro – 7
Leny Yoro effectively combined with Diogo Dalot to ensure that Gabriel Martinelli wasn’t a threat for Arsenal before the Brazilian made way for Noni Madueke and looked confident in possession.
Matthijs De Ligt – 6
Matthijs De Ligt helped Man United ensure that Viktor Gyokeres had a quiet debut for the North Londoners.

Luke Shaw – 6
Luke Shaw defended well for Amorim’s men and showed some neat touches in possession.
Diogo Dalot -5
Dalot successfully extinguished the potential threat of Martinelli, but was very quiet going forward for Man United.
Casemiro – 6
The former Real Madrid star successfully performed his defensive duties, but failed to display much creativity when in possession.
Bruno Fernandes – 7
Even though Bruno Fernandes played in a deeper role to accommodate Amorim’s summer signings, as well as Mason Mount, he still showed his creative class.
The Portugal international may have to play in a more advanced role to hit his best form, though.
Patrick Dorgu – 7
The left-wing-back largely defended well and was unlucky to see his shot in the first half strike the woodwork.
Bryan Mbeumo – 7
Along with Cunha, Man United summer signing Bryan Mbeumo was at the heart of the North West club’s attacking moves in the first half.
The former Brentford man was unlucky to see his well-directed header in the second half met by a great save from Raya.
Matheus Cunha – 7
The Brazil international introduced himself to the Old Trafford faithful by showing several glimpses of his attacking prowess and was unlucky that Raya got a hand to his strong effort from a tight angle.
Mason Mount – 6
Mount adjusted well to playing on the left side of Man United’s attack and also drifted into the central area well.
His effective link-up play with both Cunha and Mbeumo bodes well for the Red Devils.

Amad Diallo (for Dalot, 55) – 5
Amad Diallo failed to dazzle in the way that the Old Trafford faithful know he can.
Manuel Ugarte (for Casemiro, 65) – 6
The former PSG man took on from where Casemiro had left off, adding defensive solidity while lacking creative ability.
Benjamin Sesko (for Mount, 65) – 5
Amid the news that Rasmus Hojlund is close to joining AC Milan, Benjamin Sesko will be entrusted with leading the line for Amorim this term.
