Marc Guehi has penned a heartfelt message to Eberechi Eze on social media after the playmaker’s move from Crystal Palace to Arsenal was confirmed on Saturday (23 August).

Guehi and Eze each played huge roles in the Eagles’ FA Cup-winning 2024/25 campaign under Oliver Glasner, and have both been key to the club over the last few years.

Palace have tried their hardest to keep hold of the duo this summer, but Eze’s transfer saga reached boiling point over the last few days as Arsenal swooped in to try to get a deal to sign him over the line in front of arch-rivals Tottenham.

Tottenham fans thought they had a deal for Eze wrapped up on Tuesday (19 August) after personal terms had been agreed with his camp, but Arsenal dramatically hijacked Spurs’ move for Eze a day later, and he underwent his Gunners medical on Friday (22 August).

Eze is not the only key Crystal Palace player who could leave the club in this summer window, after Football Insider revealed on Friday (22 August) that Liverpool remain hopeful of signing Guehi in a cut-price deal amid continued links to his services over the last few months.

He remains an Eagles player for now, however, and reached out to send his support to Eze on his Instagram story (23 August) after his move to Arsenal was confirmed, saying: “Good luck my brother!

Been a pleasure sharing the pitch with you,” with praying hands and a heart emoji alongside a picture of the pair celebrating a goal.

Palace have lost a huge influence and their main attacking threat in Eze, and with Glasner already unhappy at the club’s summer business, they simply cannot afford to lose another major player and their best defender in Guehi before the window closes.

The Austrian boss recently admitted that Guehi “has to stay” at Palace, and that they will “have big troubles” if he departs, yet his future remains uncertain amid continued interest from Liverpool.

The Reds are still hopeful that a deal can be struck to take him to Anfield, and they will have been buoyed by recent comments from Eagles chairman Steve Parish, who contradicted his manager’s beliefs by saying: “It’s a difficult situation, everyone has to sell players to comply with the rules.

That’s a situation that we will have to look at in the next days,” on Thursday (21 August).

Guehi is out-of-contract at Selhurst Park next summer, and so Parish may well see fit to sell him for a sizeable fee before he can leave for nothing, but that would have a detrimental effect on Palace’s on-field hopes, and could even force Glasner to walk after not being backed this summer.
