Michael Owen has slammed the shambolic outcome of the Marc Guehi to Liverpool failed transfer as he hints to what could happen moving forward with players wanting a move.
On transfer deadline day (1 September), the Crystal Palace captain looked to be on the verge of bagging a huge move to Liverpool after Guehi completed his medical.
Yet, the Eagles failed to land a centre-back replacement for the Englishman which saw Guehi’s move to Liverpool collapse at the very last moment.
Understandably, Guehi was very disappointed with Crystal Palace after the deal looked all but done to join the Reds.
Conversely, both Alexander Isak and Yoane Wissa secured their major moves, despite the pair going on strike during pre-season unlike the 25-year-old, angering former Newcastle striker Owen.

Taking to X (1 September) minutes after the deal broke down between both parties, ex-Liverpool forward Owen gave his views on what had been a frustrating day for the England international.
The former Real Madrid frontman touched on how the professional actions of Guehi were not rewarded whereas both Isak and Wissa got away with going on strike by securing their respective moves to the Reds and Newcastle, claiming more players will now follow the latter course of action.

“No prizes for guessing how players will act in the future if this is the result.”

From the outside looking in, the former Chelsea academy graduate has held himself in an impressive and professional manner during the summer transfer window, despite heavy speculation over his future.
The Englishman, alongside now Arsenal midfielder Eberechi Eze, handled his situation in the best way possible by continuing to play for the Eagles.
Unlike both Isak and Wissa who went on strike to force their moves through, Guehi would have garnered an immense level of respect from fans and players alike.

In terms of where this leaves both Liverpool and the 25-year-old, it looks highly likely the Reds will come back for the defender in the January transfer window.
Due to the lack of centre-back coverage for Arne Slot, this seems to be the last piece of the puzzle they need to ensure they defend their Premier League title again.
For Palace, certainly the price will have to drop for their captain as he will only have around six-months left on his contract.
Oliver Glasner will be pushing for Steve Parish and co.
to quickly source a replacement ahead of the January transfer window in order for Guehi to be able to leave freely next time.
