Ben Doak has emerged as a clear candidate for a permanent move away from Liverpool this summer after a productive loan spell at Middlesbrough under Michael Carrick.
The 19-year-old winger featured in 24 Championship matches in the 2024-25 season, registering three goals and seven assists.
Interest in Doak first intensified during the January window, when Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town both explored bids that Liverpool ultimately deemed below valuation.
Leeds United were also linked late in the season, but Boro’s willingness to protect Doak’s development saw Liverpool resist recalls and lower offers.
However, Doak’s progress was severely hampered by injury troubles while on loan.
After lighting up the first half of the campaign, he suffered a thigh injury in late January that ultimately required surgery.
This injury initially sidelined him for several matches before being confirmed as serious enough to end his season early.
And amid of plenty of interest from UK sides, continental clubs are also on the hunt.
Sky Sports have reported that AS Monaco and Bologna are both keeping tabs on the Scot in the final weeks of the transfer window.
Monaco have been monitoring Doak since last season, attracted by his versatility across wide roles.
The Ligue 1 recruitment team first identified him while scouting Liverpool’s academy, and they view Doak as fitting the profile.
Bologna has also interest, but it’s thought their approach is less advanced than Monaco’s.
Doak’s contract runs until 2027 following his move from Celtic in 2022, giving Liverpool significant leverage in negotiations.
At just 19, Doak has already earned six senior caps for Scotland and was named in the provisional squad for Euro 2024, only to withdraw through injury.
He made his senior international debut last September, coming off the bench in Scotland’s 3-2 defeat to Poland.
