Liverpool’s busy summer continues, with Ben Doak looking as though he will be the next player to move on from Anfield - and in the process, he could help the Reds’ efforts to sign Alexander Isak.

Already this summer, Arne Slot’s side has spent nearly $400 million on new arrivals, and that figure is only going to go up with Giovanni Leoni set to complete his move from Parma soon.

Yet more signings could be on the way beyond the Italian’s arrival, with work still being done on Marc Guehi, and there is of course the issue of Isak to be sorted.

The striker’s saga continues to rumble on, with still no clear end in sight

We’ve now reached the stage where Isak is reportedly going on strike at Newcastle, with his current club willing to fine him for missing games as the relationship deteriorates further.

At this point, you’d think a parting of the ways and allowing him to join Liverpool would be best for all parties - except, it’s not that simple.

Although Liverpool has shown it is eager to sign Isak, Newcastle has no plans of letting him go, with the Magpies still struggling to bring in any potential replacements

Alexander Isak's relationship with Newcastle continues to deteriorate as he tries to force an exit

Apart from being good business for Liverpool, with the Reds set to pocket $34 million after paying Celtic just $814,000 for the teenager back in 2022, Doak could be the first domino in a sequence that ends with Isak finally getting his move to Merseyside.

According to The Guardian, Doak’s move to Bournemouth comes as the Cherries prepare to offload Dango Ouattara, with the forward poised to join Brentford in a deal worth up to $58M.

The 28-year-old has already been angling for a move, with Brentford boss Keith Andrews confirming he will be left out of the Bees Premier League opener against Nottingham Forest as a result.

And should Wissa get his move to Newcastle, then Isak may also get his wish.

It may prove to be just the first piece of the puzzle, given the Magpies would likely want another forward in place, having also let go of Callum Wilson this summer.

Doak’s exit from Liverpool though could well prove to be the beginning of the end of Isak’s saga as the transfer window enters its last act.
