Keith Hackett has insisted it is too early to tell what punishment Manchester United will receive for failing to fulfill their fixture against Liverpool.

“These investigations will have to interrogate the whole process and the police will be involved,” Hackett told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

An FA and Premier League investigation has been launched into the matter.

“The things that will come out will be the cost of travel, cost of hotel accommodation and various other costs.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former head of the PGMOL suggested they will have to pay the travel and accommodation costs of Liverpool at the very least.

Sunday’s game was postponed just hours before kick-off after anti-Glazer protests stormed the pitch and entered the dressing rooms which caused a breach of the covid-secure bubble.

“Maybe there are other clubs in the league who would say ‘You deserve what you get.’ “There will be a punishment when an investigation concludes.
