According to reports, French giants PSG are keen to sign Liverpool forward Sadio Mane, who is out of contract in 2023.

Mane signed for Liverpool in 2016 following his successful spell at Southampton. A fee of around £34m was paid to sign him.

The forward has netted 119 goals from his 267 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.

He has helped them win the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup in recent seasons.

Mane’s future at Liverpool is in doubt as his current contract is set to expire in 2023. He has been linked with Bayern Munich and Barcelona in recent days.

Sport Bild’s Christian Falk has revealed via Twitter that PSG are in fact the ‘big favourites’ to sign Mane if he decides to leave Liverpool.

He states that the ‘strong interest’ and ‘high salary’ at PSG are the reasons why he is ‘hesitating’ to sign a new Liverpool contract.

Elsewhere, Rafa Benitez claims Jurgen Klopp wouldn’t have been able to sign a single player for the £20m budget he had:

“People remember (my) team… but they compare it to a Liverpool that has spent very well spent, it’s true, but with players worth 40 million on the bench.

“That’s why you can’t compare my Liverpool and Klopp’s, because you have to look at the contexts. I had a budget of 20m, 20! Tell me now with 20m what Liverpool can sign – nothing – if they are signing players of £40m for the bench.”

One of Benitez’s big signings at Liverpool was Babel, who the Reds signed from Ajax for £11.5m, and the Dutchman criticised the Spaniard last year while comparing him to Klopp.

“It was, in my opinion, a weird relationship [with Benitez] because when he signed me I looked at him as the big uncle who wanted to give me a chance and help me succeed,” Babel said.

“But then as we went on he left me totally on my own and only judged me for the things I didn’t do right instead of telling me how to solve or improve the things I had to improve. I was very young and I just needed guidance.”
