Tony Cascarino has told talkSPORT that Jordan Henderson will be a ‘big loss’ for Liverpool if he were to leave.

As the Liverpool players enjoy the pre-season sunshine in Austria, their fans were dealt with some unexpected news in that Henderson’s contract situation has stalled.

Not only that, with two years left on his current deal, Mauricio Pochettino’s PSG have seemingly expressed an interest in bringing the hard-hitting Englishman to France.

Cascarino shared what former Sunderland striker, Niall Quinn, who was also the club’s chairman during Henderson’s rise through the Stadium of Light, once said about the now-thriving Liverpool man.

“Yes, (it’s a concern Henderson leaving) because I like him,” said Cascarino. “I like his attitude and I think he inspires and lifts people around him.

“From what I have heard, Niall Quinn spoke to me about him when he was Sunderland chairman about Jordan many years ago.

“He said ‘one thing he will always do is prove his worth. You might not think he’s the best midfielder, but he will improve. His desire and attitude is exemplary’.

“I think it’s a big loss. When you lose someone in the dressing room, if he were to move, of that calibre, it’s very hard to get that again. That’s why they kept Milner.”

These Henderson rumours haven’t gone down well with the Liverpool faithful and rightly so.

Henderson is as important to Liverpool out on that pitch as he is in the dressing room and out on the training field.

FSG aren’t exactly popular with the Liverpool supporters right now, so whatever call is made with Henderson’s future, if he leaves and it backfires then that anger will only grow.

Those European Super League attempts won’t be forgotten on Merseyside, so something seriously special needs to happen in order for the American’s to be forgiven.

Perhaps signing Kylian Mbappe would do!
