Club CEO Billy Hogan has confirmed that Liverpool FC will talk to the family of Diogo Jota at the appropriate time to discuss further tributes for the late Reds star.
On Wednesday evening, goalkeeper Alisson and winger Luis Díaz travelled to Gondomar to attend the seventh-day mass for Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva.
The pair were unable to attend the funeral of their fallen and beloved teammate.
On Sunday, Liverpool are set to face Preston North End in their opening pre-season friendly at Deepdale, with tickets already sold out for hospitality and general admission on a first-come, first-served basis.
ITV will broadcast the 3:00 pm BST kick-off live across the UK, ensuring supporters can watch the champions return to action despite recent events.
Meanwhile, CEO Billy Hogan was outside Anfield on Wednesday to pay his respects.
Speaking to liverpoolfc.com, the FSG chief confirmed that the club will engage in ideas with the family of Diogo Jota when the time is right:
“It is early, it has obviously only been a few days?
I think the most important thing in this process is that we want to make sure we are respecting the family,” Hogan began.
“As a club, there’s been lots of ideas and certainly within the supporter base lots of ideas.”
“That’s something we’ll take forward with the family and we want to have those conversations at the appropriate time.”
“Obviously, they have gone through an unimaginable situation over the course of the last several days.”
“We certainly will, obviously, remember both Andre and Diogo and at the appropriate time we’ll make those plans clear.”
He added that the match against Preston will go ahead, with the tour to the Far East also to take into consideration:
“We’ve got the match on Sunday at Deepdale and we’ll of course remember them at that match.”
“Then the tour, then we come back to Anfield and then the season starts, so we’re thinking about all of those moments.”
“Of course, we want to make sure we do the right thing and appropriately remember both Andre and Diogo.”
