Blackpool sporting director David Downes has provided a fresh update on Liverpool’s interest in teenage forward Gabriel Schluter and hinted he will make the move to Anfield.
A report last week in Football Insider claimed a six-figure fee had been agreed between the clubs, with his medical to take place this week.
However, The Athletic’s James Pearce stated that was slightly inaccurate.
“Liverpool looked at Blackpool teenager Gabriel Schluter and admire him, but told suggestions that a deal to buy him is either done or even close to being done is wide of the mark,” he wrote on X.

Either way, it looks like Schluter could be part of the Reds youth team in the upcoming campaign, following his impressive rise through the Blackpool youth ranks in recent years.
Speaking during the Tangerines’ summer preseason preparations in Spain, Downes implied that Schluter is set to make the short journey down the coast to Merseyside.
“We always want to try to keep our best players, but while they’re at scholarship age we obviously remain at the mercy of a lot of cat-one teams,” the Blackpool executive told the Blackpool Gazette.
