Marc Guehi and Joe Gomez have been the talk of the town over the last few hours of Liverpool’s deadline day.
Crystal Palace are still playing hardball as they look to sign a replacement for their captain, with Joe Gomez also having interest shown in him from AC Milan.
“Arne Slot is keen to have BOTH Guehi and Gomez in his ranks once the deadline passes,” they wrote.

“Milan’s owners, Red Bird Capital, also have a stake in Fenway Sports Group, who own Liverpool, and the two sides talked late into last night before thrashing out terms on Gomez moving to Italy.
“Separately, we are told Milan held talks with Gomez’s representatives and were close to agreeing a deal before the plug was pulled.
“The deal was entirely dependent on Liverpool completing a deal for Guehi to move to Anfield from Crystal Palace – and whilst that transfer is still active, both sides feel there isn’t enough time to complete the necessary logistics to do the Gomez move after Guehi.

Even though Liverpool are now close to completing the £125million transfer of Alexander Isak from Newcastle, it still feels like the Reds could do more to make their window even better.
And, although Gomez isn’t likely to be a starter any time soon, his versatility, coupled with his Premier League experience, are two of the things that make him a key cog in Arne Slot’s set-up.
Of course, only time will tell what the future has in store, but for now, if Liverpool want to get the most out of the 2025-26 campaign, they need to keep Gomez at Anfield and get the transfer of Guehi over the line.
